아우내 장터는 유관순 열사가 주도한 1919년 4월 1일 만세운동이 일어난 곳이다.

'아우내'는 두개의 내를 아우른다 라는 뜻이다.

유관순 열사는 이 곳에 모인 사람들에게 태극기를 나누어 주고, 모두 함께 대한 독립 만세를 외쳤다.

일본 경찰들은 시위를 진압하기 위해 사람들을 쏘고 쳐서 많은 사상자를 냈다.

그 결과로, 시위를 주도한 유관순 열사는 감옥에서의 고문으로 인해 사망했다.

아우내 장터는 천안에 위치해 있고, 3.1운동 때 희생한 모든 열사들의 넋을 기리기 위해 천안 시민들은 돈을 모금하여 천안 독립 기념관을 만들었다.

시간이 된다면 아우내 장터와 천안 독립 기념관을 방문하여 나라를 위해 희생하신 분들께 경의를 표하면 좋을 것 같다.

우리는 이 분들의 희생을 기억해야 하고 감사해야 한다.

아우내 Marketplace is the place where the independence movement took place on April 1st, 1919, led by patriotic martyr 유관순.

"아우내" means to merge two creeks.

Martyr 유관순 handed out 태극기 to the people who gathered there, and they all shouted out for Korea's independence together.

Japanese police shot and hit people to suppress the movement, which caused many casualties.

As a result, martyr 유관순, who led the protest, passed away because of the harsh torture in prison.

아우내 Marketplace is located in Cheon-an. To commemorate the souls of all the martyrs who sacrificed during the March 1st Movement, Cheon-an citizens raised money to create the Cheonan Independence Hall.
