After entering Geunjeongmun on the left, you can see a nice building on the right, which is Geunjeongjeon, a national treasure of Korea.

왼쪽의 근정문에 들어서고 나면, 오른쪽의 멋진 건물을 볼 수 있는데, 이 건물은 근정전으로, 대한민국의 국보입니다.

The four imaginary animals, Baekho, Hyeonmu, Jujak, and Blue Dragon, like the picture on the left, guard Geunjeongjeon. Geunjeongjeon Hall is the central building of Gyeongbokgung Palace, where officials greeted the king for the new year, held national ceremonies, and welcomed foreign envoys.

왼쪽의 사진과 같은 백호, 현무, 주작, 청룡 네 개의 상상의 동물들이 근정전을 지키고 있습니다. 근정전은 경복궁의 중심 건물로, 신하들이 임금에게 새해 인사를 드리거나 국가의식을 거행하고 외국 사신을 맞이하던 곳입니다.

If you look inside the building, you can see the Eojwa, the chair the king held on the left, and the Ilwolobongdo, the symbol of the king, behind it. And on the ceiling you can see a golden chivalry.

건물 안쪽을 보면 왼쪽의 왕이 안던 의자인 어좌를 볼 수가 있고 그 뒤의 왕의 상징인 일월오봉도를 볼 수가 있습니다. 그리고 천장에는 황금색 칠조룡도 볼 수 있습니다.

Geunjeongjeon is a majestic palace architecture with the dignity of a royal palace that was completed by refining the techniques that had lost sophistication since the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. At night and in winter, you can also see magnificent scenery like the one pictured above.

근정전은 조선 중기 이후 세련미를 잃어가던 수법을 가다듬어 완성시킨 왕궁의 위엄을 갖춘 웅장한 궁궐건축으로 경복궁 하면 가장 먼저 생각나는 건물이기도 합니다. 밤과 겨울에 위 사진과 같은 웅장한 풍경을 볼 수도 있습니다.
